Anxiety

Anxiety could be described as being your response to a situation that may not be immediate, clear or even seen by others as a problem. Many clients say, “I know it’s not really a problem, I just can’t stop it.’ Sound familiar? Examples are lack of confidence, self-esteem or perhaps exam nerves.

They are based on what others say sometimes, especially when a situation hasn’t been faced before. Anxiety is more readily overcome than other more serious issues, such as depression. You may be familiar with some of the following:

  • Anxiety of public performance – dancing, singing, speaking
  • Sports motivation – insufficient self-belief of ability
  • Socialising – lack of experience perhaps, at mixing with different people

If these are not recognised and addressed they can contribute to phobias or other problems. Just like minor physical illness, preventing or reducing fears and anxieties early in their appearance, leads to a healthier person.

More anxieties are:

  • Panic attacks
  • Surgical , injury or pain  - see dental phobia pages
  • Meeting certain people
  • IBS -Irritable Bowel syndrome  - see weight management page

If you have not considered hypnotherapy for any anxieties then I would be delighted to help.

A client review:

‘On coming to Hypnotherapy sessions with Julia I was not enjoying life at all, even though work, home and social life were absolutely fine. I was feeling distraught and sad all the time. Although I knew this was a waste of time and I was spoiling the present by fretting over the past and worrying about the future, I could not pull myself out of this thought process and I was not sleeping well at all.

After one session with Julia my sleep improved hugely and during the following weeks my mental condition improved greatly as well.

I think it is important to keep practicing the relaxation  process and I listen to the CD on a regular basis.’

'I have recently had Hypnotherapy with Julia and I can say I was delighted at the effectiveness of the treatment. The help I received for my anxiety and panic attacks was useful and very beneficial over the period that we worked together. I now see the benefits of trying alternative methods of dealing with anxiety. Hypnotherapy has enabled me to manage my feelings of panic as well as the physical symptoms without medication. I would now recommend therapy with Julia to anyone who feels they would like to deal with stress and anxiety.

I also believe that maintenance afterwards using the relaxation CD is crucial to maintaining and improving my ability to deal with anxiety attacks. I use the CD most evenings'
