Phobias
Phobias are a common problem some people face, such as arachnophobia (fear of spiders), heights etc. and a variety of less usual phobias. These are created from fear of a particular, or sometimes several, influences or experiences. Phobias are part of the general condition of Anxiety. Phobias can be overcome with hypnotherapy or other psychotherapeutic methods, sometimes combined.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What can I do about my fear of flying? It stops me visiting distant places. A. You can seek the services of a hypno/psychotherapist where you can be encouraged to reduce anxiety with relaxation and then help your mind to remove the memory of the phobia creating experience. Alternatively, they may offer desensitisation.
Q. What would the hypnotherapist do? A. First of all consult with you, to exchange general background information. This helps to see and discover how comfortable you both are with what you learn at this time. This session is often free or for a nominal fee.
Q. What is hypnotherapy like? What happens? A. Hypnotherapy is similar to relaxing fully before sleep. You can still hear a few sounds but may not react to them. If preparing to assist a therapeutic technique with the consultant, you will continue to listen to their voice for simple actions. You are in a state of focus on yourself.
Q. Are there any side effects? A. As a rule there are only benefits to using hypnotherapy and some people will find more benefits than others.
A client sent me a text message 22/12/11 saying: I don't feel I need another session. I had a perfect night-time drive home last week-end, it was completely successful and I couldn't have asked for anything better. This will now spur me on for future drives. Thank you for all your help and I will be in contact should I need any more sessions.
